Aegis vs. imported motorized UST cabinets

Similar idea.
Very different cabinet.

Many motorized cabinets are designed to conceal a projector and rising screen. Aegis is designed around the entire AV system—including the equipment, cooling, wiring, speakers, storage, service access, and the room it lives in.

Typical imported motorized cabinet

Designed primarily around the screen and projector.

Most begin with a motorized screen, a projector tray, and a predefined cabinet shell. Equipment space, cooling, audio integration, and customization vary by seller and model.

What is actually inside?

One starts with a mechanism.
The other starts with the whole system.

Imported cabinet features vary by seller and model. This comparison reflects common published configurations and separates clearly listed features from capabilities that are not generally offered or documented.

What it is built to do

Integrate the projector, screen, AV equipment, cooling, wiring, audio, and storage as one system.

Primarily raise a screen and move or position a UST projector.

UST positioning

Patented universal adjustment designed around projector geometry and future equipment changes.

Tray or lift geometry varies by model and may be tied to a narrower equipment range.

Projector environment

Enclosed compartment with directed, filtered, monitored cooling.

Ventilation varies by model; filtered dust management is often not listed.

AV compartments

Deep, usable equipment bays with cable clearance for full-size components.

Side sections may be shallow storage, drawers, or limited equipment space.

Equipment cooling

Optional active cooling for the left and right AV compartments.

Dedicated AV-compartment cooling is generally not listed.

Rack mounting

Available for a clean, serviceable component installation.

Not generally listed as a factory option.

Built-in audio

Center, left/right, LCR, Sonos Arc, and in-cabinet subwoofer options on compatible models.

Integrated speaker and subwoofer options are generally not listed.

Lighting and display

RGBW rear lighting and low-iron glass equipment doors are available.

Options vary and are generally limited to the factory configuration.

Cabinet choices

Modern and Southern Farm collections, multiple widths, extensions, and room-specific custom work.

A smaller group of predefined sizes, colors, and layouts.

Where it is built

Made to order in San Angelo, Texas by the company that designed the system.

Mass-produced overseas; the retailer, importer, and manufacturer may be separate companies.

Typical delivery path

Approximately 4–6 weeks for a made-to-order Aegis cabinet.

Fast when stocked domestically; published overseas estimates range from about 45–60 days to 14–18 weeks on certain models.

The real difference

AV furniture—not a decorative enclosure.

A motorized screen and projector tray can create an impressive demonstration. The harder job begins after those parts move: full-size electronics need usable depth, cables need room to bend, heat needs somewhere to go, speakers need proper placement, and the system needs to remain accessible years later. Aegis plans those needs before production.

That is why an Aegis cabinet can be configured with actively cooled AV compartments, rack mounting, glass equipment doors, built-in speaker doors, a concealed Sonos Arc, an in-cabinet subwoofer, storage, extensions, and room-specific custom work. The cabinet is designed around the system instead of treating the mechanism as the finished product.

Where the value goes

Built here. Supported here.

International freight is part of the delivered cost of every cabinet that crosses an ocean. Aegis puts its value into domestic construction, patented adjustment, equipment protection, usable AV space, and direct support from the company that designed and builds the cabinet.

Domestic inventory can make an imported cabinet arrive quickly. When it is not stocked locally, published delivery estimates vary widely—from 45–60 days from China to 14–18 weeks for certain sea-freight models.

Documented, not implied

The original patented approach to universally adjustable UST cabinetry.

Aegis AV holds U.S. Patent 11,466,812 for universally adjusting ultra-short-throw projector credenza technology. A cabinet can look similar across a room without offering the same internal engineering, equipment protection, serviceability, or system capability.

Published shipping examples checked August 20, 2026: Nothing Projector lists 2–7 business days for locally stocked cabinets and 45–60 days when shipped from its China warehouse. Vividstorm lists approximately eight weeks by sea freight for the Geneva and 14–18 weeks for the Dune.
